No one was injured when a Metra UP/Northwest train struck a car in northwest suburban Palatine on Friday afternoon.

At 12:42 p.m., the Union Pacific Northwest train hit a car on Plum Grove Road north of Palatine Road, according to a statement from the Palatine Fire Department.

Only the female driver was in the car and she was uninjured, and there were no reported injuries on the train, fire officials said.

A fire department ladder company, rescue squad, ambulance, and three command officers responded to the scene, fire officials said.

The Palatine Police Department is investigating the accident.
