A Chicago Police officer was accidentally struck by shrapnel at a police facility Tuesday morning on the West Side.
The officer was working at the firearms lab in the 1000 block of South Homan about 8:40 a.m. when he was accidentally struck by shrapnel, police said.
He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital with a minor wound to his back, and was expected to be treated and released, police said.
