(SCHILLER PARK) No one was hurt when a party bus suddenly became “engulfed in flames” Saturday afternoon on the Tristate Tollway in the northwest suburbs.

The party bus caught fire in the northbound lanes of I-294 at milepost 39 in Schiller Park about 2:40 p.m., according to Illinois State Police District 15.

Only the driver was on the bus at the time, and he was able to escape the bus without injury, state police said.

The blaze was extinguished and the bus is being towed, state police said. One northbound lane of the tollway remains closed as of 3:30 p.m.
