A person was killed in a shooting Sunday afternoon in northwest Indiana.

The unidentified male was pronounced at 5 p.m. in the 4600 block of Van Buren Street in Gary, according to the Lake County Coroner.

The person died from a gunshot wound, the coroner said. Their death was ruled a homicide.

Gary police did not immediately respond to a request for details.
