A woman was shot with a BB gun during a robbery early Wednesday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Officers responded at 1:43 a.m. to a call of a person shot in the 700 block of North Christiana, where a 47-year-old woman was being taken via ambulance to Stroger Hospital, according to Chicago Police.

She told investigators that she and a male friend were walking north in the 600 block of North Spaulding when two men, thought to be between 21 and 25 years old, walked up, police said. One man displayed a black object that resembled a handgun and demanded the woman’s personal belongings, while the other man, who was wearing a black skull cap and black jacket, went through her pockets and took a small amount of money.

As the suspects were leaving the scene, one of the men pointed the black object in the woman’s direction, police said. She heard a noise and felt pain in her right upper arm. The woman then ran home and called authorities.

Police said she was listed in good condition and doctors believe her wound is from a BB gun.
