A man was shot Saturday night in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the South Side.

The 39-year-old was walking on the sidewalk about 8:55 p.m. in the 1700 block of South Wood when he heard shots and felt pain, according to Chicago Police.

He suffered a gunshot wound to his left ear and was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.

No one was in custody as Area Central detectives investigated the shooting.
