(PALOS HILLS) A south suburban man has been charged with stealing more than $6,000 worth of golf clubs in the west and southwest suburbs.

Officers were called to a home in the 11200 block of Southwest Highway in Palos Hills at 11:25 a.m. Monday to investigate a reported theft, Palos Hills police said in a statement.

A man told officers that several golf clubs—valued at about $2,100—were stolen from the home, and that he had the theft on video, police said. About 3:10 p.m., police found a suspicious person in the area and identified him as the suspect.

Mark A. Carter, 26, of Burbank, resisted arrest but was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit, police said. He is suspected of stealing a total of $4,300 worth of golf clubs from several stores in the west and southwest suburbs.

Carter is charged with one count of felony theft, two counts of misdemeanor theft and two counts of resisting an officer, police said. He was expected to appear in bond court Friday.
