A suspicious package spotted near a federal building in the Loop Sunday morning has been deemed safe.

The bomb squad responded to a suspicious object outside near a statue in the 200 block of South Dearborn about 9:30 a.m., according to police News Affairs Officer Jose Estrada. The Kluczynski Federal Building is located on that block.

Police said at noon that the package had been deemed safe.

Northbound traffic on Dearborn was diverted during the investigation, but the street has since reopened.

Blue Line service was also suspended between Grand and UIC Halsted, but trains resumed normal service by 11:45 a.m., according to the CTA.
