An 18-year-old man was shot to death Sunday morning in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

Mario Gaines was shot multiples time when another male walked up and fired at him about 10:01 a.m. in the 200 block of North Lockwood, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Gaines was taken to Loretto Hospital, where he died at 10:14 a.m., authorities said. He lived about three blocks from where he was shot.

Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
