A man was fatally shot early Sunday in the West Elsdon neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

Luis Villa, 36, was sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked car about 12:30 a.m. in the 5600 block of South Kolmar when a silver vehicle pulled alongside and someone inside opened fire, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Villa was shot in the side of his torso and was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:42 a.m., authorities said. He lived on the same block where the shooting happened.
