Police: Man killed in Gresham crash after fleeing traffic stop

A man was killed in a crash last week in the South Side Gresham neighborhood after driving away from a traffic stop in southwest suburban Evergreen Park.

Early Tuesday, Evergreen Park police initially tried to pull a vehicle over for a broken taillight, but the vehicle sped away, according to Chicago Police. Evergreen Park police did not initiate a chase.

The vehicle lost control about 2:30 a.m. in the 1800 block of West 87th Street in Chicago and crashed into a parked semi, police said.

The driver, 39-year-old Talrant H. Anderson of Alsip, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

An autopsy found he died of multiple injuries in the collision, and his death was ruled an accident, according to the medical examiner’s office.
