Police: Man shot to death while fixing car in East Garfield Park alley

A man was fatally shot Wednesday evening in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side.

Carlos L. Gaddy, 34, of the 2900 block of West Wilcox, was fixing a vehicle about 7:30 p.m. in an alley in the 500 block of North Kedzie when someone walked up to him and shot him in the head, according to Chicago Police.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Gaddy was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office Thursday.

Area North detectives were conducting a homicide investigation.
