A portion of Illinois Street was closed for several hours Sunday morning because of metal debris hanging from a River North building.
The metal object was hanging about 5 a.m. from the eighth floor of a building in the 300 block of West Illinois, according to Chicago Police. Illinois was blocked between Franklin and Orleans while Chicago Fire Department crews responded.
The property manager was later called to the scene and crews worked to remove the debris with a crane, police said.
The street and sidewalk were reopened by 12:40 p.m., police said.
