A man who was shot to death Tuesday morning in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side has been identified.

Jarvis Coleman, 24, was standing on the sidewalk in the 0-100 block of North Keeler about 10:15 a.m. when someone walked up to him and fired shots, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

Coleman, of the 700 block of South Kostner, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 11:23 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office. His family said he lived in the 4200 block of West Maypole.

An autopsy found he died of multiple gunshot wounds, and his death was ruled a homicide.
