A portion of the Eisenhower Expressway on the West Side will be closed this weekend for construction.

The left eastbound lane of the Eisenhower (I-290) will be closed between Ashland and Halsted beginning at 11 p.m. Friday, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

Work will begin on the Peoria Street Bridge as part of the ongoing Jane Byrne Interchange Reconstruction, according to IDOT.

The lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, and then close again the following weekend.

IDOT advises drivers to expect delays and allow extra travel time for trips through the area.
