Protesters block Metra Electric tracks near Bryn Mawr station

A group of protesters blocked the Metra Electric District Line in the South Shore neighborhood Friday evening.

About 10:40 p.m., Metra announced that trains were stopped on the line due to police activity near the Bryn Mawr station at 71st Street and Jeffery Avenue.

A group protesting Chicago Police after the release of footage Friday from the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Paul O’Neal in the South Shore neighborhood on July 28.

Protesters blocked the tracks halting trains and causing a delay of about 40 minutes, according to a Metra spokeswoman. Protesters were cleared from the tracks by midnight.

Metra police did not immediately respond to a request for more information.
