A teenage boy was shot and critically wounded Sunday night in the Washington Park neighborhood on the South Side.

At 9:07 p.m., the 16-year-old was standing on the sidewalk in the 5600 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive with a group of a people when a male approached him on foot and began shooting, Chicago Police said.

He was shot in the back and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition, police said.
