A 17-year-old boy was shot Tuesday afternoon in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood on the South Side.

The boy was standing on a sidewalk about 2:30 p.m. in the 2100 block of South Oakley when a vehicle pulled up and someone inside fired a shot, according to Chicago Police.

The boy suffered a gunshot wound to the right thigh and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
