A 19-year-old man was shot Tuesday night when someone opened fire during a fight in the West Side Austin neighborhood.

At 8:56 p.m., the man was standing in the 1100 block of North Mason with a group of people when a fight broke out, according to Chicago police. The man then heard gunshots and realized he’d been struck in his shoulder.

He took himself to West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park, where his condition was stabilized, police said.

Area North detectives are investigating.
