Two charged after Crystal Lake drug raid

(CRYSTAL LAKE) Two men have been charged in connection with a drug-dealing operation in northwest suburban Crystal Lake.

Kyle P. Romaniuk, 23, and his roommate, 24-year-old Tyrone H. Lambert, were arrested Friday morning after a two-month narcotics investigation, according to a statement from the McHenry County sheriff’s office.

The investigation started after residents near Romaniuk’s former home in Lake in the Hills complained that he was selling marijuana, the sheriff’s office said. Detectives were able to conduct undercover purchases from him and continue the investigation after he moved to a new residence in Crystal Lake.

Authorities executed a search warrant Friday morning on Romaniuk’s home in the 500 block of Darlington Lane in Crystal Lake and found him and Lambert to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, the sheriff’s office said.

As a result of the investigation, police seized about 58.8 grams of marijuana – with an estimated street value of $1,176 – in addition to three digital drug scales and other drug paraphernalia, according to the sheriff’s office.

Romaniuk is charged with two felony counts of unlawful delivery of cannabis, three misdemeanor counts of possession of cannabis and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia, the sheriff’s office said. His bond was set at $11,500.

Lambert was also charged with one misdemeanor count each of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of cannabis, the sheriff’s office said. His bond was set at $1,500.

Both men were released from the McHenry County Jail Friday morning after they posted bond, according to the sheriff’s office. Their next court date is scheduled for Nov. 14.
