A man and a woman were found shot to death Saturday morning in a murder-suicide in the Hyde Park neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers assisting the Chicago Fire Department with a well-being check in the 1400 block of East 54th found the 65-year-old woman and 73-year-old man with gunshot wounds to the head at 9:49 a.m., according to Chicago Police. Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

The woman, identified as Margaret L. Shanahan of the same address, died of a gunshot wound to the head and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office.

The man, identified as Robert L. Moore, also of the same address, died of a gunshot wound to the head and his death was ruled a suicide, according to the medical examiner’s office.
