A man was charged with leaving a semi truck unattended outside a terminal at O’Hare International Airport early Friday after the Chicago Police Bomb & Arson squad responded to the incident.
Officers found the semi parked in an unauthorized area on the upper level of Terminal 3 about 3:50 a.m., and couldn’t find the driver, according to a CPD statement.
The bomb squad was called in “as a precautionary measure,” and the truck was towed away “without incident,” police said.
“The daily operations of Terminal 3, or any other terminal at O’Hare Airport, were not affected by this incident,” police said.
The driver of the truck, 35-year-old Alexander Lavrentyev, was later taken into custody and charged with a misdemeanor count of reckless conduct, police said. He was also cited for traffic violations.
Lavrentyev is set to appear in court September 15, police said.
