LAKE VILLA — Three schools in Lake Villa are on soft lockdown Thursday morning because of police activity in the northern suburb.

Thompson School at 515 Thompson Ln., Palombi Middle School at 131 McKinley Ave., and Martin Elementary School at 24750 W. Dering Ln. are all on soft lockdown due to police activity in the area as of 9:45 a.m., according to a statement on Lake Villa District 41’s website.

Initially only Thompson was put on lockdown at 8:45 a.m.

A suspect ran from the Round Lake area and police are searching for the person, prompting the lockdown, according to Lake Villa police.

Parents are advised not to try and pick up their students, as they will not be allowed to enter the schools, according to the statement on the district’s website.
