(LIBERTYVILLE) A woman robbed a Harris Bank branch at gunpoint late Monday morning in northwest suburban Libertyville.
Officers responded to a hold-up alarm at 11:23 a.m. at the Harris Bank branch at 354 N. Milwaukee Ave., according to a Libertyville police statement.
While en route, officers learned a woman had robbed the bank about five minutes earlier and had already run away, police said.
Authorities said she displayed a small, silver handgun, and handed a teller a note demanding money, police said. She got away with an unknown amount of cash.
She is described as a black woman in her mid- to late 30s with a dark complexion, police said. She was wearing a gray jacket with a gray hoodie, dark pants, black and white tennis shoes, and a multicolored scarf.
Police canvassed neighboring businesses, but no one was in custody as of late Monday afternoon, police said.
