Woman sexually assaulted in Arlington Heights home

(ARLINGTON HEIGHTS) A man used an unsecured window to climb into a home, then sexually assaulted and robbed the woman who lived there early Thursday in northwest suburban Arlington Heights.

The suspect entered the through an unlocked window of the home in the 2400 block of South Embers Lane about 2 a.m. and sexually assaulted the woman, according to Arlington Heights police.

He then stole jewelry before leaving.

The woman was taken to Northwest Community Hospital, where she was treated and released, police said.

The suspect is described as a 5-foot-6 male with average build, olive skin, short dark curly hair, police said. He was unshaven with an unknown accent; and was wearing dark khaki-style pants and a dark polo shirt.

Police advise residents to make sure all doors and windows are locked and secured.
