This morning, the President will host an event at the White House to continue to push Congress to act to extend the payroll tax cut and unemployment insurance through the end of the year. The President will be joined by Americans who have shared what $40 a paycheck means to them and who would be affected if Congress doesn’t act. This event in the South Court Auditorium is open press.

In the morning, the President will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing and then meet with senior advisors in the Oval Office. These meetings are closed press.

Later, the President and the Vice President will hold a meeting with Vice President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China in the Oval Office to discuss a broad range of bilateral, regional, and global issues. There will be a pool spray at the top of the meeting.

In the afternoon, the President will do a round of regional interviews to continue discussing his plan to help responsible homeowners. The President will sit down with anchors from KLAS, Las Vegas, Nevada ; WAGA, Atlanta, Georgia; WFLA, Tampa, Florida; and WBTV, Charlotte, North Carolina. These interviews are embargoed until 5PM EST. The interviews, in the Diplomatic Room, are closed press.

Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta in the Oval Office. This meeting is closed press.
