What if there is a last minute shutdown deal?

SHARE What if there is a last minute shutdown deal?

WASHINGTON–As of Monday afternoon, there is no deal to avert a partial federal government shutdown. What if something gets cooked up between the leaders close to the midnight deadline? Since it could take time to sell something to members, one possible path would be a very short term continuing resolution to extend the Sept. 30 fiscal year deadline by a few days. What seems not to be in play: just putting off the deadline for a week. Senate Democrats, I am told, would not support putting off the deadline a week.
