DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 19, 2013

In the morning, the President and First Lady will meet and greet with Embassy personnel. This meeting at the Ritz-Carlton, Berlin is closed press.

Later, the President will visit the Schloss Bellevue where he will sign a guest book and be welcomed by President Joachim Gauck of Germany in a ceremony with military honors. Afterwards, the President will hold a bilateral meeting with President Gauck. There will be pre-set pool coverage of the President’s arrival at Schloss Bellevue and there will be travel pool coverage of the welcome with military honors as well as the guest book signing. There will be a restricted pool spray at the top of the bilateral meeting.

Later in the morning, the President will visit the German Chancellery where he will hold a bilateral meeting and a joint press conference with Chancellor Angela Merkel before having a working lunch with Chancellor Merkel in the afternoon. There will be pre-set pool coverage of the President’s arrival at the German Chancellery and there will be a photojournalists’ spray only at the top of the bilateral meeting. The joint press conference is open press while the working lunch is closed press.

In the afternoon, the President will deliver remarks at the Brandenburg Gate. The President’s remarks will be open press.

Afterwards, the President will sign the Golden Book of Berlin. This signing at the Commerzbank Building is closed press.

Later, the President will meet with Peer Steinbrueck of the Social Democratic Party in the Commerzbank Building. There will be a photojournalist’s spray only at the top of the meeting.

In the evening, the President and the First Lady will visit the Schloss Charlottenburg where they will be welcomed by Chancellor Merkel and her spouse, Professor Joachim Sauer for an official photo. There will be pre-set pool coverage of the arrival and official photo opportunity. Later, the President and the First Lady will attend a dinner with Chancellor Merkel. There will be a travel pool spray of the toasts only.

At night, the President and the First Family will depart Germany en route Washington, DC. The departure from Tegel Airport and the arrival on the South Lawn are open press.
