A PAC supporting gay marriage is holding a fund-raiser Wednesday night for three Republican state lawmakers who backed same-sex marriage legislation as well as State Comptroller Judy Baar Topinka, who is also a Republican.
The legislation ultimately did not get called for a vote in the House before the Spring session ended. But state Representatives Ed Sullivan (R-Mundelein) and Ron Sandack (R-Downers Grove) had voiced their support — the only two members of the Republican House caucus to do so.
The measure was overwhelmingly approved in the state Senate on Valentine’s Day.
