Durbin traveling to Ukraine

WASHINGTON — Sen. Dick Durbin D-Ill. is part of a congressional delegation traveling to Ukraine on Thursday in advance of the Sunday vote in Crimea to opt out of Ukraine.

Durbin’s office confirmed he is part of the delegation led by Sen. John McCain R-Az.

A Durbin spokesman said Durbin wants to meet with the new Urkraine government and assess the situation on the ground.

Josh Rogin of the Daily Beast who broke the story of the McCain trip reported the other members of the delegation are Sens. John Barrasso R-Wy.; John Hoeven R-ND; Ron Johnson R-Wi; Christopher Murphy D-Ct; Jeff Flake R-Az; and Sheldon Whitehouse D-RI.
