WASHINGTON — The Republican National Committee chairman says year-round campaigns are the new norm and his party has operatives in dozens of communities to win over voters.
RNC chief Reince Priebus says his headquarters has shifted its focus to on-the-ground political organizing in the states. That was one of the recommendations the RNC’s Growth and Opportunity Project — known in political circles as “the autopsy” — made a year ago in assessing what went wrong during Mitt Romney’s presidential bid.
He also says he supports the Growth and Opportunity Project’s recommendations that Republicans take up immigration reform. But he says differences remain in how the GOP should define that.
The chairman spoke Tuesday at a breakfast organized by the Christian Science Monitor.
