Texas GOP chief to women: Stop suing for equal pay

The executive director of the Texas Republican Party has one suggestion for women: Don’t sue for better pay, but be more like men and be better negotiaters.

“Men are better negotiators, and I would encourage women, instead of pursuing the courts for action, to become better negotiators,” Beth Cubriel said on YNN’s “Capitol Tonight.”

Just the day before, Cari Cristman, the executive director of the conservative Red State Women PAC said laws are sufficient and women are just too busy to push for better legislation. Lt. Gov. Greg Abbott has agruged that the federal equal pay law doesn’t apply in Texas.

Democratic state Sen. Wendy Davis – a candidate for governor and national name after a highly viewed filibuster on Youtube – criticized both Abbot and Cubriel for their comments.
