Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has a new ad titled “Rebuild,” which promises voters that if elected, “I won’t let you down.” But it appears he already has after featuring the wrong basketball team in the ad.
Instead of showing the University of Kentucky’s basketball team, voters get to see Duke celebrating its 2010 NCAA title at the 1:09 mark of the video.
It didn’t take people long to ignite a firestorm on Twitter.
Sheer insanity. Mitch McConnell puts Duke basketball championship footage in KY Senate ad. @joesonka pic.twitter.com/dgczao4gzV

McConnell’s camp admitted the error when asked by Joe Sonka, a reporter at LEO Weekly.
"Obviously we were horrified by the error and quickly changed it." -- @Team_Mitch spox on #DukeAd. #BBN #KYSEN

"The ad was intended to highlight #Kentucky's basketball dominance," says @Team_Mitch spox @MAllison_Moore #KYSen #BBN #Duke

The ad has since been pulled, but not before Sonka was able to post the original to YouTube.
First #Mcconnelling, now this.
