President Barack Obama is in Belgium on Wednesday, visiting the Flanders Field Cemetery and participating in meetings with the U.S. European Union and NATO partners as part of the EU-U.S. Summit. Later in the day he flies to Rome, where on Thursday Obama has an audience with Pope Francis.

DAILY GUIDANCE AND PRESS SCHEDULE FOR

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 26, 2014

In the morning, the President will visit Flanders Field Cemetery with Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo of Belgium and His Majesty King Phillipe to participate in a wreath laying and tour the grounds. There will be pool coverage of the wreath laying and tour.

Following the tour, the President, Prime Minister Di Rupo and His Majesty King Phillipe will deliver statements at Flanders Field Cemetery. There will be pool coverage of their statements.

In the afternoon, the President will arrive at the Council of the European Union to participate in the EU-U.S. Summit. On arrival, the President will be greeted by European Union President Barroso and President Van Rompuy. There will be expanded pool coverage of the President’s arrival and greet.

Afterward, the President will participate in the EU-U.S. working lunch. There will be a pool spray at the top of the lunch. Following the lunch, the President will participate in a press conference at the Council of the E.U. The press conference is open press.

Later in the afternoon, the President will meet with employees and family members of the U.S. Tri-Mission to Belgium, EU, and NATO before meeting with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen. The President’s meeting with embassy personnel is closed press and there will be a pool spray at the bottom of the meeting with NATO Secretary General Rasmussen.

In the evening, the President will deliver remarks at the Palais Des Beaux Arts (BOZAR). The President’s remarks are open press. Following his remarks, the President will depart Brussels, Belgium en route Rome, Italy. The President’s departure from Brussels National Airport and arrival at the Fiumicino Airport are open press.
