The University of Connecticut Huskies cast off Michigan State Sunday afternoon to earn a trip to the Final Four. In the process, they dealt the latest tough test to the Obama administration.

Well, they crushed the president’s NCAA Tournament bracket, anyway.

President Obama had picked Michigan State – he likes their backcourt – to win it all. But the Spartans could only manage a free trip back to Lansing. As is the nature of politics, though, some bridge-building came soon after when the Huskies tweeted at the president their condolences on his flaming bracket – and to offer him UConn coattails.

Here’s the president’s bracket, as presented on ESPN earlier this month. Happier times.
