State lawmaker indicted on porn charges. Feds add counts

SPRINGFIELD — Former state Rep. Keith Farnham was indicted on child pornography charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago announced on Friday.

A federal grand jury returned a four-count indictment against Farnham including charges of possessing, receiving, and transporting child pornography — including material involving a minor under age 12.

He will be ordered to appear in federal court again for his arraignment and authorities also want him to turn over his computer.

His court date has not yet been set.

Farnham is the third most recent member of the General Assembly to come under the federal microscope. State Rep. Derrick Smith, D-Chicago, faces trial next week on federal bribery taxes. State Rep. LaShawn Ford also faces federal bank fraud charges.
