President Obama made a trip to the Twin Cities on Thursday to follow up on a letter he had gotten from Rebekah Erler and to talk about the economy.

While there, though, he took in one of the great cultural touchstones the Minneapolis-St. Paul area – or any area, really, has to offer: The Jucy Lucy.

Yes, that’s “Jucy” with no ‘i”, a staple at Matt’s Bar. There’s a whole argument about whether the burger, which is two patties wrapped around a mound of cheese that melts into a lake of deliciousness when cooked, originated at Matt’s or another joint down the street – the 5-8 Club. We’ll leave that discussion for the fine folks in Minnesota to settle, but today we have to stick with Matt’s because Matt, the original owner, passed away earlier in the day after a struggle with lung cancer.
