Nancy Pelosi wants more mean tweets about her

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., has no problem with people firing off angry tweets about her. In fact, she welcomes it. Because it’s all about the money.

During an appearance Monday night on NBC’s “Late Night,” she filled host Seth Meyers in on how things work, after Meyers informed her of the social media backlash he’s fallen victim to.

“We live in a very polarizing political time.” Meyers said. “I will receive so many angry tweets just for having you on the show — usually from people whose avatars are like tri-corner hats or very angry eagles.”

But Pelosi is OK with all of it.

“The more tweets you get, the more money I raise,” Pelosi said.

“Oh good,” Meyers said.

Meyers also touched on what he called “one of the most awkward things I’ve ever seen happen between congress people,” when she, along with other congressional leaders held hands and swayed while singing the Civil Rights-era anthem “We Shall Overcome.”

“I think you could see that my comfort level was a lot higher than the others,” Pelosi said.
