Rauner spreads $2.25 million more between his campaign, state GOP

SPRINGFIELD-Wealthy private equity investor Bruce Rauner opened his wallet yet again late Friday by pumping $1.5 million of his own funds into his gubernatorial campaign and dishing out another $750,000 to the Illinois Republican Party.

The contributions mark the second straight Friday in which the Winnetka Republican, who is trying to unseat Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn, reported contributing those significant amounts to his gubernatorial fund and the state party.

The money he invested in Citizens for Rauner raises his own personal stake in his campaign to $12.57 million since March 2013, state campaign records show.

With the latest donation to the state GOP, Rauner or his campaign committee have given the state party organization $3.5 million since January, campaign records show.
