WASHINGTON — Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, a former chairman of the Democratic National Committeeand well known among high-end Chicago Democratic donors, headlines a fundraiser for Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn in Chicago on Wednesday evening.
The event is described on the invitation as “an intimate dinner in support of” Quinn, locked in a tight race with GOP nominee Bruce Rauner.
McAuliffe is the latest in a string of very top Democrats hitting Illinois to rally the financial and grassroots Democratic base for Qunn.
As I reported, President Barack Obama hits Chicago on Thursday for a Quinn fundraiser; first Lady Michelle Obama comes home on Oct. 7 for an event geared toward getting out the vote; former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, raised in Park Ridge, had been on the calendar for Oct. 8, though that day may change because of the birth of her granddaughter last Friday. And look for former President Bill Clinton to rally voters for Quinn at a date TBD.
The McAuliffe dinner hosts are Kevin Conlon, Raj Fernando, Kevin O’Keefe, David Rosen, Rob Stein and Thad Wong. The dinner is at the home of Rob and Eileen Stein.
