When doing a drone demonstration in front of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee on Capitol Hill, a crash landing wouldn’t be good.
But that’s exactly what happened on Wednesday when representatives from 3D Robotics flew a $500 Parrot Bebop drone during testimony.
After about six seconds of flight, the drone hit the floor.
“And that’s your worst case scenario,” one of the committee members said. “Oh my gosh! Drone crash!”
“Maybe we won’t fly over people,” another committee member said.
It wasn’t a total bust. The drone did manage to get some solid flight time at the hearing.
“I was hoping you would fly over the whole room, not just one location,” Chairman Lamar Smith said after the device landed.
