Here’s a roundup of what Illinois Democrats are doing on Monday, the kick-off day of the virtual Democratic National Convention.

Mayor Lori Lightfoot

11 a.m. — Policy roundtables, hosted by the Milwaukee 2020 Host Committee and Business Forward. Agenda for the virtual meeting includes “Protecting the Integrity of the Election,” with Lightfoot, Emily’s List Executive Director Emily Cain and Progressive Turnout Project Executive Director Alex Morgan.

8:30 p.m. estimated time. Lightfoot joins Joe Biden, who accepts the presidential nomination Thursday, to discuss racial justice, “The Path Forward.” The conversation was recorded Aug. 7. Besides Lightfoot, others on the panel include Jamira Burley, Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, NAACP President Derrick Johnson, and author Gwen Carr, mother of Eric Garner, who uttered “I can’t breathe” in 2014 as New York police officers held him in a fatal chokehold while arresting him.

12 p.m. — Center for American Progress hosts online discussion, “COVID-19 and America’s Health: How Do We Heal?” Underwood will be joined by Ron Klain, the former U.S. Ebola response coordinator, and Harvard Global Health Institute Director Dr Ashish Jha.
