Five people were taken to hospitals Saturday afternoon after falling ill in a Lincoln Square nursing home, according to the Chicago Fire Departments.

Five residents, between the ages of 40 and 50, were taken by ambulance from Continental Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 5336 N. Western Ave., according to fire Cmdr. Frank Velez — three of them to Swedish Covenant Hospital and two  to Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston.

It wasn’t clear what made them sick. The Illinois Department of Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are investigating, Velez said.
