(BUFFALO GROVE) A natural gas leak in northwest suburban Buffalo Grove temporarily halted trains and traffic Tuesday afternoon.

Deerfield Road in Buffalo Grove remains closed between Weiland and Barclay because of the natural gas leak, according to the village of Buffalo Grove. Metra and Canadian National trains were also halted in the area, according to the village.

The village tweeted about 12:30 p.m. that the gas company had fixed the leak.

Inbound Metra train No. 114, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 12:35 p.m., was stopped for nearly an hour, according to Metra’s website. The train was on the move again as of 12:45 p.m.
