Hillary Clinton is favorite potential 2016 candidate, poll shows

Over the weekend, former President George W. Bush said he’s confident his brother Jeb would beat Hillary Clinton in a race for the White House, but a new poll paints a slightly different picture.

The poll, released by Bloomberg Politics, shows Clinton has the highest net favorable rating compared to six other potential presidential candidates — and also would beat five Republican opponents in head-to-head matchups.

Of the 1,001 U.S. adults polled, 53 percent said they have a favorable opinion of the former Secretary of State. Vice President Joe Biden comes in second at 45 percent, while the leader on the GOP side is Mitt Romney, at 43 percent favorable.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz comes in dead last at 26 percent.

In a poll of 753 likely U.S. voters, Clinton would beat all five GOP contenders thrown out there: Romney, Cruz, N.J. Gov. Chris Christie, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul.

Clinton’s biggest margin comes against Cruz (46-33), while she has a six-point lead against Bush, Christie and Romney.
