Trains on the Metra Electric District line are operating with significant delays because of wire problems on the South Side Thursday morning.

Inbound and outbound trains are only using two tracks because of wire problems near 67th Street, causing “extensive delays,” according to a service alert on Metra’s website.

Outbound trains No. 309 and 311 will operate as a combination train scheduled to depart Chicago at 7:35 a.m. and arrive at 93rd Street at 8:12 a.m., Metra said.

It was not immediately clear how long the delays would last, Metra said.
