A 60-year-old woman has died more than a month after being hit by a car in Logan Square on the Northwest Side.

Rosalia Fonseca was struck at 9:43 a.m. Sept. 20 at the intersection of Mozart Street and Wabansia Avenue, according to Chicago Police and the Cook County medical examiner’s office. Fonseca was crossing the street at a crosswalk when a 72-year-old man in a SUV struck her when he made a right turn from Wabansia to Mozart headed south.

Fonseca died in hospice care at 5:05 a.m. Friday, authorities said. She lived in the 1600 block of North Humboldt.

An autopsy Saturday found she died of heart disease, with complications from multiple injuries in the collision listed as a secondary cause. Her death was ruled accidental.

The driver of the SUV was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, police said. The case is still under investigation.
