Adam Gase says Bears offense is in ‘great hands’

Adam Gase says the Bears are in "great hands."

Adam Gase believes Jay Cutler is more than just a one-hit wonder.

The former Bears offensive coordinator-turned Dolphins coach told ESPN Friday that he believes a repeat of Cutler’s 2015 is possible under the guidance of new offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains.

“It’s a great dynamic (between Loggains and Cutler), I know that,” Gase said at the NFL combine. “I always loved going around those two guys and kind of seeing the banter between them. When they hit the field, there’s something special there between those two guys and the way they work together and the way they communicate. It’ll be a great situation for Jay.”

Cutler had a career year in Gase’s system in 2015, posting a career-best 92.3 passer rating with a completion percentage of 64.4. His 11 interceptions were his fewest of any season in which he’s played more than 10 games.

Loggains spent last season as Chicago’s quarterback coach after coming over from Cleveland where he held the same position. He was Tennessee’s offensive coordinator in 2012 and 2013. The Titans ranked in the bottom 10 in the NFL in total offense both seasons.

“That offense is in great hands,” Gase said, via ESPN. “I mean that whole coaching staff is top-notch. I enjoyed working with all those guys, but those two guys together, they’ll be able to keep that system going. They’ll be able to keep that continuity going.”
