Alshon Jeffery is back — but limited.

The Bears’ former Pro Bowler returned to practice Wednesday at Halas Hall on a limited basis. It marked his first such appearance, four weeks after suffering a mild calf injury during a walk-through.

In the portion open to the media, Jeffery, wearing shorts, ran routes and caught passes with his teammates.

“I thought it went well,” coach John Fox said.

He called it “encouraging” and said the Bears will see how he feels when he wakes up Thursday.

Jeffery missed exactly four weeks of practice after suffering an injury during a walk-through Aug. 12. The Bears characterized his injury as a mild calf strain, though he remained out of the public eye during recovery. Jeffery wasn’t on the sideline for the Bears’ preseason games and wasn’t seen in the portions of practice open to the media until Wednesday.

Fellow starting receivers Eddie Royal (hip) and Marquess Wilson (hamstring) were also limited Wednesday.
