Two days after Jay Cutler had season-ending right shoulder surgery, the Bears put him on injured reserve Monday.

The move opened up a roster spot for Johnthan Banks, a former Lions cornerback, who the Bears claimed. The former second-round draft pick started 37 games for the Buccaneers from 2013-15 before being traded to Detroit this year.

He’s yet another cornerback for the Bears to examine in the coming weeks; the team is waiting to see if Kyle Fuller (arthroscopic knee surgery) can go from practice to games, while rookie Deiondre’ Hall is recovering from a high ankle sprain.
